Memories of a Simple Past
Museo Etnografico Madre Maria Domenica Mantovani
Via Parolotti 20, Castelletto
Housed in the birthplace of Maria Domenica Mantovani (1862–1934), founder of the Institute of charitable educators « Piccole Suore della Sacra Famiglia, » this building is a fine example of the typical architecture of the Garda Riviera. The museum is furnished with domestic and agricultural tools from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, authentically recreating family environments: a kitchen, pantry, stable, workrooms, and artisan workshops. These spaces bear witness to rural life, including olive cultivation, fishing, silk production, and livestock farming.
The museum also hosts educational activities and promotes ethnographic and historical research. It is an ideal destination to combine with a stroll through the village of Castelletto or a relaxing moment by the lakeside.
